Faith Based Leadership and HIV
Cultural Competency: Faith Based Leadership and HIV
In many locations, places of faith, spirituality, and worship are the backbone of community interaction and mutual support. Leaders of fatih are also community leaders.
Many religious and spiritual leaders, however, may not be sure how to reach or speak to the populations in their community most at risk for HIV.
This training demonstrates how faith, religion, and community stakeholders can collaborate to effectively address HIV/AIDS prevention.
After completing the training participants will be able to:
- Identify the resources available in faith-based communities and the importance of community collaboration
- Assist faith leaders in dispelling myths associated with HIV/AIDS
- Develop holistic methods for HIV/AIDS-related treatment and services
- Nurture leadership skills to support individuals in motivating and empowering communities
Our trainings are available to directly funded community based organizations, some state funded organizations and organizations working with HIV positive and at risk populations, free of charge.
Please request trainings using the CBA Request Information System (CRIS) and ask for NCHP.
In some circumstances, if you are unable to access the system directly, your local health department may be able to request on your behalf.
