Enrolled Air Force Veteran, Susan, weighed down by depression, anxiety, and the daily struggle just to keep going, recently visited the NCHP Tucson office on a day when Lexi, the office’s support dog, happened to be there. The Veteran immediately lit up, eager to meet Lexi, and shared a quiet hope of having a dog of her own.

As it turned out, Case Manager Kathi works closely with local rescues and knew of a dog in need of a forever home. When Chloe met the Veteran, the connection was instant — a perfect match. In many ways, Chloe became more than a companion; she became a lifeline.

Since then, those who meet Chloe and her new mom often comment on the remarkable change they see. With Chloe by her side, the Veteran has rediscovered a sense of purpose, comfort, and connection. Sometimes, the simple bond between a Veteran and a fur baby can make all the difference — a reminder that being needed, loved, and seen can truly change a life.

After many years without stable employment, John, a Veteran enrolled through the Yuma office of the Best Is Yet to Come Program, recently received the opportunity he had been hoping for.

When AG Tech contacted our program looking to hire a bilingual Veteran, he applied and shared with the hiring manager that he had been referred through our program. After interviewing, he was offered the position and began working full time!

With support from community partners, he received work boots through Vets Helping Vets and a watch donated by Cristina’s Closet to help him start his new job prepared and on time.

Today, John says he is very happy in his new role. He enjoys the work, takes pride in what he does, and is excited about building a stable future.
