Housing for Heroes is a leading Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and implemented by National Community Health Partners (NCHP), a trusted nonprofit serving southern Arizona.
Since launching in 2013, our Housing for Heroes program has helped veterans and veteran families achieve housing stability across five counties in Arizona and California: Maricopa, Pinal, Yuma, La Paz, and Imperial County, CA.
Helping Veterans Stay Housed and End Homelessness
Our mission is simple but critical:
Prevent homelessness among at-risk veterans and veteran families
Rapidly rehouse veterans who are currently experiencing homelessness
Through our SSVF supportive services in Arizona, we provide both direct financial assistance and personalized case management to ensure every veteran has access to safe, stable housing.
Comprehensive Supportive Services for Veterans
Our Housing for Heroes SSVF program offers a wide range of supportive services designed to address the unique challenges faced by veterans:
Emergency Housing Assistance
We provide immediate housing solutions, including temporary hotel stays and alternative shelter options, for eligible veterans and veteran families in crisis.
Rental Assistance
Qualified participants can receive financial help with rent payments to prevent eviction and maintain stable housing.
Utility Assistance
We help cover essential utility costs—such as electricity, gas, and water—to ensure continued access to safe living conditions.
Security & Utility Deposits
Our program assists with upfront housing costs, including security deposits and utility setup fees, making it easier for veterans to secure permanent housing.
Employment Assistance
Our case managers support veterans with job searches, resume development, interview preparation, and access to work-related resources like professional attire.
Housing Search & Placement
We help veterans and veteran families in Arizona locate affordable housing, even with credit challenges or past evictions, and collaborate with landlords to secure stable housing options.
Transportation Support
Transportation barriers are addressed through bus passes, rideshare assistance, and other solutions to help veterans access work, housing, and essential services.
Emergency Supplies
Eligible participants may receive critical items such as groceries, baby formula, diapers, and seasonal clothing to meet immediate needs.
Legal Assistance
We provide support for non-violent legal issues—especially those related to housing or finances—to help veterans remain housed.
Benefits Navigation
Our team assists with applying for federal, state, and local benefits, ensuring veteran families can access all available resources.
Incentives for Landlords and Veterans in Arizona
To expand housing opportunities for veterans, our Housing for Heroes SSVF program offers:
